Note: The Exeed VX C-DM is the global export nameplate for the Exeed Lanyue C-DM. Both represent the exact same vehicle, with the latter being the official domestic model designation in the Chinese market.
The Exeed Lanyue C-DM is an E-segment plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV launched by EXEED, the premium marque under Chery Automobile. Positioned as a "state-guest class flagship 7-seater electric hybrid SUV", the model made its global debut and official market launch in Chengdu on 27 March 2025. Built on the M3X Super Hybrid native electrified architecture, it serves as Exeed's core strategic flagship for 2025.
The Lanyue C-DM is offered in two variants: the 180 Ultra-Long Range Max AWD and the 180 Ultra-Long Range Ultra AWD. Both variants are available in either a 2+2+2 6-seater or a 2+3+2 7-seater configuration, priced between RM209,900 and RM233,900. Highlighting its signature USPs of "tri-motor four-engine AWD, 0-100 km/h in five seconds, six-litre fuel consumption, and full seven-seater practicality", the SUV directly rivals RM300,000-class mid-to-large SUVs such as the Li Auto L6/L8, AITO M7, and Lynk & Co 09 EM-P, offering exceptional value-for-money in the RM200,000 to RM250,000 bracket. In international markets, it is sold as the Exeed VX C-DM across regions like the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc.) and Russia.
The Exeed Lanyue C-DM retains the bold, stately road presence of its ICE counterpart while subtly incorporating electrified styling cues. Up front, it sports a massive polygonal radiator grille with horizontal chrome louvres, underlined by a full-width star-trail LED light bar and split headlamp units for a commanding and distinctive fascia. The rear receives noticeable updates: the outboard reflectors from the ICE model have been integrated into a redesigned "eagle-wing" full-width LED taillight bar that stretches across the tailgate, finished with "C-DM" and "AWD" badging to denote its electrified, all-wheel-drive powertrain. In profile, the silhouette remains boxy and muscular, with a prominent shoulder crease extending into the rear lamps and an upswept beltline that lends a dynamic, poised stance. Buyers can choose from five exterior colours: Dragon Crystal Purple, Meteorite Grey, Quantum Silver Grey, Lunar Exploration Black, and Bright Moon White. Conventional pull-type door handles and 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels come standard across the entire range.
In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 5,010 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,800 mm in height, riding on a 2,900 mm wheelbase. This makes it 40 mm longer and 8 mm taller than the ICE version. Kerb weight stands at 2,280 kg, with identical front and rear track widths of 1,644 mm.
Inside, the cabin features a wraparound cockpit architecture available in two interior themes: "Sunlight Orange" and "Moon Shadow Brown". The dashboard is dominated by a monolithic triple-screen layout comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, and a dedicated 12.3-inch front passenger entertainment display. Paired with a two-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel and a steering column-mounted electronic gear selector, the cabin strikes a balance between cutting-edge technology and executive luxury. High-grade NAPPA leather (Pre-NAPPA top-grain calfskin) is generously used throughout the cabin, complemented by soft-touch surfacing and contrast stitching across the dashboard and door cards for an upmarket, tactile finish.
The Exeed Lanyue C-DM is driven by a pioneering four-engine all-wheel-drive super hybrid system, representing the flagship showcase of Chery's Kunpeng Super Performance Electric Hybrid C-DM technology. The powertrain pairs a 1.5T dedicated hybrid engine with three electric motors (P2+P2.5 dual motors on the front axle + a dedicated P4 motor on the rear axle), coupled with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and the Snow Leopard electronic AWD system as standard across the range. Total system output is rated at an immense 455 kW (approx. 619 PS) and 920 Nm of peak torque, propelling the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds.
The 1.5T hybrid-specific petrol engine runs on a deep Miller cycle with an impressive thermal efficiency of 44.5%, producing 115 kW (156 PS) and 220 Nm on its own. The front dual-motor setup (P2+P2.5) delivers 165 kW and 390 Nm, while the rear P4 motor adds another 175 kW and 310 Nm. Maximum speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h.
Energy storage comes courtesy of a 34.46 kWh CATL-supplied ternary lithium battery pack (M3P LMFP chemistry), enabling an all-electric range of 180 km on the CLTC cycle and an overall cruising range of up to 1,300 km. Its WLTC battery-depleted fuel consumption is rated at 6.88 L/100 km, with extreme media pre-sale real-world tests yielding figures as low as 3.8 L/100 km. The SUV supports DC fast charging, completing a 30% to 80% state of charge (SoC) in approximately 22 minutes. It also features a 6.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply function suitable for glamping gear and emergency electrical appliances. The engine is tuned to run on standard RON 92 petrol.
Underneath, the Lanyue C-DM is equipped as standard with the Flying Fish Super Sensing Chassis (Flying Fish Chassis 2.0) featuring Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive electromagnetic dampers. The system gathers real-time chassis, wheel, and road-surface telemetry to continuously vary damper firmness, effectively soaking up secondary road harshness while keeping body roll and pitch in check. Suspension hardware consists of a front MacPherson strut layout and a rear all-aluminium H-arm multi-link independent setup, with extensive use of aluminium alloy to reduce unsprung mass.
Steering duties are handled by a Bosch DP-EPS dual-pinion electric power steering system, while braking relies on front ventilated discs and rear solid discs for reassuring stopping power. The standard Snow Leopard e-AWD system enables intelligent, millisecond-level torque apportionment, shifting output seamlessly between 0% to 90% at the front axle and 10% to 100% at the rear, responding far quicker than conventional mechanical AWD setups. Selectable drive modes include Eco, Comfort, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Off-road. On the road, the CDC dampers actively counter nose-dive under hard braking and squat on launch while offering commendable lateral cornering support and refined ride comfort. However, local feedback notes that with a 2.3-tonne kerb weight riding on low-profile 245/45 R20 tyres, drivers need to be cautious of potential sidewall bulges when tackling deep potholes.
The digital cockpit of the Exeed Lanyue C-DM features a unified triple-screen setup: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch front passenger display. The system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor running the Lion 5.0 OS, supporting four-zone intelligent voice commands, 5G connectivity, Huawei HiCar 4.0, and Apple CarPlay, alongside over-the-air (OTA) software update capabilities.
Comfort amenities are generous, with NAPPA leather upholstery fitted as standard. Both front seats come with power adjustability, heating, ventilation, and massage functions (with the Ultra variant adding a powered ottoman leg-rest for the front passenger "Queen Seat"), while the 6-seater's second-row captain chairs also feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Audiophiles are treated to a 23-speaker Lion Melody premium sound system pushing 960W via a 7.1.4 immersive spatial audio configuration. Other highlights include a W-HUD head-up display, a 50W wireless smartphone charging pad, a negative-ion fragrance system, an AQS air quality management system, in-cabin vital sign monitoring, acoustic rear privacy glass, and a hands-free powered tailgate. Practicality remains a strong suit, with 901 mm of second-row legroom, 793 mm of third-row legroom, and a maximum boot volume of up to 2,148 L with the power-folding third-row seats stowed away.
On the passive safety front, the Exeed Lanyue C-DM is built around an integrated high-strength cage body with high-strength steel accounting for 85% of the structure, while the B-pillars boast a tensile strength of 1,500 MPa. Occupant protection is reinforced by 10 airbags fitted as standard across the range, covering dual front, side, full-length curtain, driver's knee, and a front-centre airbag. The traction battery is safeguarded by a "1+8+1" safety management protocol, featuring an anti-crush strength exceeding 10 tonnes and a pyrotechnic high-voltage cut-off that triggers within 2 milliseconds in the event of an impact.
In terms of active safety and ADAS, the SUV is equipped with the Chery Falcon Smart Driving System (also known in some literature as Lion Smart Driving), utilising 5 to 6 optical cameras (including binocular units) and 16 to 21 high-precision sensing hardware modules. Level 2 semi-autonomous driving assist comes standard, incorporating iACC intelligent adaptive cruise control (full-speed 0-150 km/h range), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Road Departure Protection (RDP), and a 540-degree panoramic camera system with transparent chassis view. Higher variants offer an optional ADAS upgrade pack that unlocks iHWA Intelligent Highway Assist, Highway NOA (Navigation on Autopilot, covering highways across 140 Chinese cities via OTA from May 2025), and HPA Memory Parking. The flagship Ultra model further includes a DMS Driver Monitoring System with active fatigue detection. Independent reviews highlight that the system relies purely on vision-based sensing without LiDAR, resulting in a perceptible gap in edge-case environmental perception compared to LiDAR-equipped rivals.
Following its market debut, the Exeed Lanyue C-DM recorded relatively subdued commercial uptake. Sales peaked in its first full month (April 2025) at 653 units before experiencing sharp fluctuations: 433 units in May, 554 units in June, 147 units in July, dropping to just 13 units in August, followed by 418 units in September, 131 units in October, 219 units in November, and 97 units in December. The downtrend continued into 2026, shifting 42 units in January, 20 units in February, and 20 units in March, culminating in a modest Q1 2026 tally of 82 units. In the March 2026 domestic passenger car sales chart, it placed 337th overall and 52nd in the mid-to-large SUV category. This lukewarm performance contrasts sharply with the vehicle's high technical specifications. Industry analysts attribute this primarily to the lack of LiDAR hardware, an ageing Snapdragon 8155 chip against newer EV start-up rivals, and the brand's relatively nascent presence in the mainstream electrified segment.
On the ownership side, buyers have widely commended the vehicle's brisk 5-second century sprint, plush ride quality from the CDC electromagnetic damping, generous 6/7-seater cabin space, and frugal battery-depleted fuel economy. Conversely, consumer criticisms focus on its conservative ADAS suite, an older 8155 infotainment processor, vulnerable low-profile tyre sidewalls, and several key features being locked behind optional packages. Furthermore, owners have suggested revising the factory 245/45 R20 tyre profile, noting that a heavier, more forgiving tyre specification would better match a 2.3-tonne SUV for day-to-day durability and safety. As the plug-in hybrid flagship of the Exeed brand, the Lanyue C-DM establishes strong technical credibility in the RM200,000 to RM250,000 PHEV SUV segment with its tri-motor AWD powertrain, rapid performance, and adaptive suspension, though tangible room for improvement remains in its intelligent software suite and broader market positioning.
